Fire October 2003

I am sporadically documenting the fires near Rancho Cucamonga. Hopefully I will be able to drive closer to the fire and get some better photos of it. I promise I won't get burned.

The crazy fire is dropping all sorts of ash on my car! Good thing I haven't washed if for a month. Now I can just blame the fire.
Here's a MAP of where all the ash settled. My home is that red star... yah, right there.

Not a very good shot, but you can see the fire that's on a mountain about 10 or so miles away. It's really spectacular at night. One can only hope the fire was set by the ELF who was just trying to stop suburban sprawl. (Remember, fires are a lot more natural to the enviroment than Lewis Homes).

Fire at around 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2003. Not really threatening Upland or much of its homes... yet.

The sun is discolored by the smoke.

This is the fire at around 10 p.m. on Saturday evening, October 25, 2003. The fire has swept across the mountains into Upland. The lowest part of the fire is about 5 to 10 miles away from me. It's getting pretty close. They have already blocked off areas around 22nd Street and San Antonio. I am on 20th Street and San Antonio.
Check out the MAP. A new window will open and you can see the red star, which represents my house. And you'll also see how close I was to the flames!

Lotta people are heading up the street to get a better view of the flames.
